More Preview Pages for Ultimates Vol 3 #1

Press Release

The most-star studded comic book of the event arrives this December and when it’s done, the Ultimate Universe will never be the same! Ultimates 3 #1 (of 5), from Eisner-winning and Emmy-nominated writer Jeph Loeb (Fallen Son, Heroes) joins the superstar art team of Joe Madureira & Christian Lichtner (Uncanny X-Men, Battle Chasers) to bring you the can’t-miss third season of the world’s most controversial super hero team! No longer working for S.H.I.E.L.D., Earth’s mightiest heroes operate from Tony Stark’s mansion in New York—but that doesn’t mean they’re in the clear! New members! New adventures! New secrets! The March on Ultimatum continues here and when one of Earth’s greatest heroes dies, it sends the Ultimate Universe down the path of no return!

“Is Christmas here already? Jeez, it seems like it gets here earlier every year!” smiled Loeb. “I'm thrilled that retailers, fans, and new readers will finally get a chance to see the amazing artwork that Joe Mad and Chris Lichtner and Richard Starkings have created for this project. We realize that we're following a creative team that is unfollowable (is that a word?), but I think Mark Millar put it best when he said, upon seeing some of the artwork, that we were like the new James Bond. Different cast, different look, but it's still a James Bond movie. Hopefully, he meant Daniel Craig and not Timothy Dalton!

Everyone on the team and at Marvel have put all their best efforts into making this THE book for the year end. Enjoy!”

Who are the Ultimates now? What’s happened since the conclusion of the second volume? And just what could possibly tear this team apart? The answers arrive in Ultimates 3 #1, along with your choice of two stunning gatefold covers—one featuring the heroes and another featuring the villains!

Ultimates 3 is here and it doesn’t get any bigger than this, True Believer!

New Interview with Joe Mad from Wizard

Over at wizard's website they have posted a new interview talking with Joe Madureira about what he's up to and his work on Ultimates 3, which is hitting in December by the way. Thankfully they asked if he would continue Battle Chasers but his answer has changed a bit,

"MADUREIRA: Hmm, everyone asks me about that… I don’t know. I feel like it’s been so long at this point I’d almost have to re-launch it just to get people back up to speed. I don’t know how much comic work I can realistically do with the game company totally taking off as it has. Early on I didn’t know if this thing was going to go anywhere so I kind of factored in a lot more time to work on the comic stuff than what I actually have. We’ll see. If I do a steady chunk of comic work at some point, I would love to do some Battle Chasers stuff even if it’s just smaller stories. I can’t believe that I’ll never work with those characters again. I’ll just say, “Yes, someday I’ll do more Battle Chasers.”

I've also heard that Joe's Ultimates 3 run maybe only be five or six issues...which is disappointing but understandable when you factor in he has two children to take care of and a video game company to run. That's all the news for now, enjoy.

Ultimates 3 #1 Full Cover

IGN just released the full hero and villain poster today, I have to say it is pretty bad ass.

Also during the San Diego Comic Con this Saturday, Marvel Comics is hosting their Ultimate Universe panel. This will have both Jeph Loeb and Brian Bendis discussing Ultimates 3 and Ultimate Origin. I'll post any new news and imagery that are released as usual.

Tiny Ultimates 3 Update

Weekly column "New Joe Friday's" over at Newsarama.com had a Q&A section where a fan asked about getting to see some new artwork for Ultimates 3.

RQ: “hendrijr” - Hey Joe, got a question for you about another Joe. Haven't heard or seen much of Joe Mads upcoming Marvel work yet-and he was announced like two years ago. Any chance we can see some of said artwork soon?

JQ: Mmmm, more like a year and a half, hendrijr. Joe is feverishly working on The Ultimates but at his and Jeph Loeb’s request, we’re not revealing much of it just yet. Don’t worry, it’s coming and it looks amazing!

Onslaught Reborn #2 variant edition by Joe Mad in stores now

Here's the first Joe Madureira related work for 2007, the Onslaught Reborn #2 Variant cover. I've scanned it for a larger version for you to check out.

In terms of Ultimates Vol. 3, it seems it won't be out until the summer of this year... which is disappointing but with all the delays I'm hoping Joe is getting issues finished so there won't be a delay between issues when they do start releasing.
